Bartons was originally established in 1964, when Dennis Brown established his first Accounting Practice in Jetty Road, Glenelg.
Bartons moved 3 years later to 596 Anzac Highway to a new premise which would soon be outgrown, due to Dennis’ passion as a Chartered Accountant and a rapidly expanding team and loyal client base,
In 1995 Leanne Carnegie Smith came aboard the team and it was in 2001 she became an integral part of the Directors group. Chris Waples followed in 2005, Chris left his position as a Director at Moore Stephens to join forces with Dennis and Leanne. The firm is also an associate member of Moore Stephens International network of accounting firms, which enables us to ensure we can refer clients to trusted advisors throughout the world.
In 2007 Stuart Brown joined the firm after leaving behind the corporate life in Sydney to create Bartons Financial Services in affiliation with Genesys. In Sydney, Stuart had successfully established and then sold his own financial planning business to a publicly listed group, where he also took a senior advising role for a number of years.
It was in June 2008 that Dennis decided to hang up his boots as a director of Bartons, however he is continuing his role in the firm as a consultant.
In October 2008 Bartons moved up to its new state of the art premises at 474a Anzac Highway.
On July 1 2009, John O'Connell joined Bartons as a Director, bringing with him over 20 years experience in public practice with broad experience in taxation, business advisory and specialised consulting services.
On January 1 2010, Adam McCann joined with Stuart Brown as a Director of Bartons Financial Services. Adam, along with his two new staff members bring a wealth of experience in personal insurance and financial planning.
